In Donegal, Ireland. 7th century. A cross inspired in the original stone of Fahan. A merging of Christian and Celtic beliefs.
From the 6th century A.D. the fusion of the old Celtic beliefs with the new religion of the first evangelizers was reflected in these Celtic crosses of great symbolic charge. The circular form evokes the sun, the astral cult and the Wheel of Life while the cross represents Christ and the encounter of Heaven and Earth. Sometimes they were carved directly from ancient menhirs and their location used to coincide with magical places of great telluric force.
